PĂ©zenasÂ
Pézenas is a little historic town alongside the Peyne river in the départmenet Hérault, in the region of Occitania. It was founded around 300 before Christ and has more than 8000 inhabitants.
Pézenas is 7 km (approx. 4-5 miles) from Prieuré Saint Martial, approx. 7 minutes by car or approx. 24 minutes by bike.
This little city is so inspiring, that the famous actor Jean Baptiste Poquelin, better known as Molière, who was only 25 by then, achieved his breakthrough during his visit in Pézenas in 1647.
Some of the attractions of Pézenas are the municipal theatre, the museum Vulliod Saint-Germain, the historic old city centre with its listed buildings and hotels from the 16th, 17th and 18th century, the impressive staircase of the Hotel Lacoste as well as the countless antique shops in the old city. Every Saturday, there is a genuinely nice weekly market in the city.
Altogether, we want to emphasize that Pézenas is an enchanting city with a very special flair where you can discover something new every time you visit it. We love it! ❤
